REPORTING TO: Title Production Manager

STATUS: Non-Exempt

 

SUMMARY:

Assistant Title Protection Manager, you will be assisting the Title Production Manager, helping ensure the accuracy and integrity of title records, conducting thorough title search exams, resolving title issues, and providing risk guidance to the operations team. Your expertise and knowledge of title protection regulations will be vital in safeguarding our clients' interests and ensuring a smooth closing process.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Ensuring comprehensive title searches and examinations to identify any potential issues or defects in the title.

2. Conduct detailed research using public records, online databases, and other sources to verify the ownership history, liens, encumbrances, and other relevant information related to the property.

3. Analyze and interpret complex legal documents, including deeds, mortgages, judgments, and easements, to assess their impact on the title.

4. Collaborate with underwriters, attorneys, and other stakeholders to resolve title defects and clear any outstanding issues.

5. Prepare, review, and approve title commitments, policies, and endorsements, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company guidelines.

6. Provide guidance and support to the operations team, assisting them in resolving title-related inquiries, issues, and challenges.

7. Stay updated on industry regulations, changes in title protection laws, and best practices to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.

8. Develop and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including lenders, real estate agents, attorneys, and title insurance underwriters.

9. Ensure the accuracy and completeness of title records, maintaining organized and up-to-date documentation for each transaction.

10. Collaborate with TPM to help create automation and software solutions to streamline title protection processes and enhance efficiency.

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

1. Proven experience (5+ years) in title examination and protection within the real estate title industry.

2. In-depth knowledge of title protection regulations, laws, and best practices.

3. Strong understanding of legal documents and contracts related to real estate transactions.

4. Excellent analytical and research skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex title issues.

5. Proficient in using title search software, online databases, and other relevant technology tools.

6. Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.

7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

8. Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

9. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on delivering quality results within tight deadlines.

10. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook.

 

PHYSICAL/MENTAL/PROFESSIONAL DEMANDS (if applicable):

  • Overnight business travel by air and/or automobile, is nominal, but may be required.
  • Ability to work with confidential information and maintain its confidentiality.
  • Maintain a personal credit score rating of least 700.
  • Maintain a clear background check, including: no convictions or charges of any felony and no misdemeanor convictions for threat, fraud, or any similar crimes.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and be flexible with disruptions throughout the workday.
  • Repetitive and continual typing motion is required.
