OVERVIEW

Box Lake Networks, a leading MSP in Central KY, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented System Engineer that can manage multiple priorities across different clients. We are looking for creative thinkers that take great pride in the level and quality of their work and have a highly developed sense of customer service and interpersonal skills. As a Systems Engineer, you will be part of a team that is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, optimizing, and advising clients about their IT infrastructure. You will play a pivotal role in keeping a group of clients’ full infrastructure running smoothly including managing servers and networks to implementing security protocols and supporting end-users. Most of the work will be completed from our Winchester office but local travel to client sites is required at times for onsite troubleshooting and installations.

RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS

  • Manage and monitor our client’s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and storage systems through our remote management tools.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to clients via phone, email or onsite at the client site.
  • Install, configure, and maintain hardware (including but not limited to servers, switches, firewalls, etc.) and software components as needed and requested.
  • Implement and review security measures to protect against cyber threats and ensure compliance with industry standards with the security services team.
  • Collaborate internally and with client teams to design and implement IT infrastructure and initiatives to support their business model. 
  • Document systems configurations, processes, and procedures through our internal systems.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for daily / weekly recurring tasks.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and make constructive suggestions for changes.
  • Complete technical training and exams as needed for partnership levels
  • Work with the other members of your team to resolve issues and help clients.

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

REQUIREMENTS

  • 3-5 years’ related experience in an MSP Service environment or similar role 
  • An ability to view a problem from the bigger picture and not just provide a quick fix solution.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in the fundamentals of Windows Server and Desktop OS, virtualization technologies, and networking concepts
  • Experience handling technical service tickets and providing advanced troubleshooting.
  • Experience with implementing and managing BCDR solutions.
  • Experienced support and working with Active Directory and Microsoft365
  • Moderate understanding of servers, networks, and cybersecurity and how they add to the big picture.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills both internally with our team and with clients
  • Must be able to travel to client locations 
  • Ability to participate and work in an on-call rotation.

PREFERRED

  • Experience using ConnectWise PSA and N-Able N-Central.
  • Experience providing support via remote tools.
  • Experience working with VMware management and ESXi
  • Experience working with Sophos Firewalls.
  • Professional IT Certifications such as Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco, VMware, or ITSM, etc.
