Mission of the Role

The Project Engineer is responsible for the successful execution of the project plan while creating a great client experience.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Successful execution of approved project plans
  • Regular and clear communication with the Project Manager, Technical Account Manager, and client
  • Design, Implement, and Manage cloud infrastructure projects using Microsoft Azure, ensuring scalability, security, and reliability.
  • Deploy and configure Intune for device management, ensuring secure and compliant endpoint management across various environments.
  • Set up and manage networking configurations in Azure, including virtual networks, VPN gateways, subnets, and network security groups.
  • Configure and manage firewalls, both cloud-based (e.g., Azure Firewall) and on-premises, to ensure robust security and compliance with client requirements.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to gather requirements, propose solutions, and deliver high-quality cloud-based projects that meet business objectives.
  • Migrate on-premises infrastructure to Azure, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption while maintaining data integrity and security.
  • Create and maintain azure resources, such as virtual machines, storage accounts, databases, and network components, following best practices.
  • Automate deployments and configuration management using tools such as Azure Automation, PowerShell, and ARM templates.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize cloud environments to ensure optimal performance, security, and availability.
  • Document processes, configurations, and project details to provide clear and comprehensive records for both internal and client use.
  • Any other task as assigned by the Project Manager
  • Ensure Time entries are accurate
  • Test and ensure functionality on all newly created and implemented systems or services before going live.
  • Documentation of all newly implemented or changed technology (or all technology as part of an onboard)

Additional Responsibilities

  • Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively.
  • Escalate service or project issues that cannot be completed within the agreed scope/time.
  • Business awareness: specific knowledge of the client and how IT relates to their business strategy and goals.
  • Work through project tickets and phases in ConnectWise as assigned by a Project Manager.
  • Enter all work as project or project issue tickets in ConnectWise.

Requirements for the Role

  • Professional IT Certifications, such as: Microsoft MCP, MCSA, or MCSE, Citrix CCEA or CCIA, SonicWall CSSA, ConnectWise CCPA, LabTech LTCP, Cisco CCNA, or VMware VCP.
  • Have adequate and reliable transportation to service area job sites and be willing to travel outside of the service area on occasion.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of experience working with Microsoft Azure and Intune, focusing on cloud infrastructure, device management, and networking.
  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing cloud solutions using Microsoft Azure.
  • Strong knowledge of Azure services, including virtual machines, networking, storage, databases, and identity management.
  • Hands-on experience with Intune deployment, configuration, and management for both Windows and mobile devices.
  • Proficiency in networking technologies, including setting up and managing virtual networks, VPNs, routing, subnetting, and network security groups in Azure.
  • Experience with firewall configuration and management, including Azure Firewall and on-premises firewalls, ensuring network security and compliance.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell for automation and configuration tasks.
  • Experience with cloud migration projects, moving applications, data, and workloads from on-premises to the cloud.
  • Familiarity with security best practices, compliance, and governance in cloud and network environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in cloud and network infrastructure.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with on-prem to M365 email migrations.
  • Experience with ConnectWise a plus.
