Job Description: Logistics Planner & Scheduler

The Logistics Planner & Scheduler will ensure that the right products are delivered to the right locations on time, in good condition and at the lowest cost.

This includes all Shipping and Delivery Quotes to Sales Reps and Distributors, Planning and Scheduling of all customer installations through internal and external installers, Negotiation and Control of all rates and costs from Third Party providers, including but not limited to all Trucking Companies/Carriers, International Freight Forwarders and Customs Brokers, Package delivery providers such as FedEx, UPS, USPS, and all Independent Contractors employed for delivery, installations, and other related services.

Must understand the supply chain, both internal and external, National and International of finished products (manufactured and purchased) and will coordinate and liaise with suppliers of logistics services (3PL), installers, drivers, suppliers and Customers. Will work directly with Production, Sales and Administration departments to ensure accurate, on-time delivery and installation. Will communicate and coordinate directly with Customers on delivery dates.

The Logistics Planner will be responsible for managing ongoing Inventory Control of specific products that are stocked for resale. This includes twice yearly physical inventory counts & audits.

Works to establish, maintain and enforce company policies and procedures, establish and achieve all departmental and company goals, and develop a well-trained and motivated staff.

 

Responsibilities:

• Plans, schedules, organizes and directs the Logistics operations to ensure all delivery and installation requirements are achieved, on time, on budget and to the required quality standards.

• Establish customer order delivery priorities and sequences for delivery schedules, installations/setups, quotations and estimates.

• Work directly with customers on direct order pick-ups, including International freight. Work with international shipping companies and agents to coordinate delivery, loading and pick-up of shipping containers.

• Manage all Logistics quotes & processes to ensure all Shipping Quotes to Sales Reps and Distributors are accurate and provided in a timely manner.

• Initiate plans and processes which minimize shipping costs through effective management of manpower and trucks.

• Reduce costs of third party logistics by working directly with and negotiating better rates and costs with 3PL providers, installers, repair service companies and delivery services.

• Responsible for all outgoing Logistics controls and costs, including packaging materials and associated materials.

• Develop or revise standard operational and work procedures to ensure personnel are in compliance with standards.

• Constantly evaluate department performance to ensure it is in accordance with the Company organizational policies/procedures and applicable laws/regulations.

• Maintain the highest Housekeeping Standards in all offices and shipping areas.

• Works directly with Senior Managers to ensure that all production, logistics and sales objectives are continuously being met.

• Must have good verbal & written communication and interpersonal skills.

• Compile detailed Monthly Logistics Reports for the department and submit directly to the Company President.

This position description is not intended to be all-inclusive. The incumbent may be required to perform other duties as required by the Position and/or Company Managers & President.

 

Responsible for the preparation and management of bi-annual Physical Inventory Counts, in conjunction with production managers and supervisors. Will ensure all systems data is physically checked, verified and corrected per Inventory Count procedures. Will work with external and internal auditors to verify physical counts are accurate.

 

Qualification Requirements:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or Logistics, or related fields.

· Must have at least of 2-3 years of verifiable experience in Shipping & Logistics.

· Experience with cost management, department budgets or P/L oversight would be beneficial, but not required.
