SUMMARY: In this position, the Engineering Technician’s responsibilities include providing technical support to day-to-day production, identifying, and testing solutions to solve technical problems, assists engineering teams, test and inspect products, and data collection.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
As an engineering technician, you should demonstrate a sound understanding of engineering technology terminology and be able to work well in a team. Outstanding engineering technicians are self-starters with an insatiable curiosity, a superb work ethic, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Support production daily and ensure that best practices are being followed.
- Identify solutions to technical problems.
- Assist engineering teams during creation, modification, and testing of products, materials, and processes.
- Inspect and test products and processes for flaws and identify areas of improvement.
- Conduct tests and collect data.
- Support process and material development and production.
- Support equipment installation and implementation.
- Support the execution of experiments.
- Calculate or record results during experiments.
- Utilize computer-aided design and drafting equipment during development phase.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma; a certificate from a community college or vocational-technical school; associate degree in engineering technology or similar, a plus
- 1-3 years of relevant education or experience in engineering technology, design technology, or a related field
- Effectively communicates information and responds to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Maintains confidentiality and uses discretion with business information.
- Reads and understands documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Writes routine reports and correspondence.
- Adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides numbers (using currency and other forms of measurement).
- Utilizes common-sense understanding to carry out written, oral, or diagrammed instructions.
- Must have good problem-solving skills, analysis, decision-making, creativity, etc
- Must be mechanically inclined, understanding of robots and spray applications are plus..
- Deals with problems involving several known variables in situations of routine nature.
- Plans the time, method, manner, and/or performance sequence of own work; may also occasionally assist in planning work assignments performed by others within a limited area of operation.
- Completes some moderately repetitive tasks.
