SUMMARY

The selected candidate will be responsible for managing automotive & marine paint operations for the facility, including responsibility for Team Leaders, Process Technicians, Production Associates and Material Handlers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Production Area Manager shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following tasks;

  • Control and maintain production within assigned areas.
  • Ensure target efficiencies are measured and maintained for daily production activities.
  • Ensure that the production schedule is met each day / week.
  • Establish area goals to support production and strategic initiatives.
  • Develop or revise standard operational and working practices and observe associates to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Enforce workplace safety regulations and procedures.
  • Control and maintain 5s activities.
  • Ensure conformance to quality standards.
  • Ensure completion of all documentation assigned to Team Leaders and Production Associates.
  • Delegate assignments as required.
  • Complete all assigned documentation.
  • Attend and participate in meetings as requested.
  • Implement production processes with continuous improvement.
  • Create documentation for production support and data collection.
  • Develop training programs for Team Leaders and Associates.
  • Initiate work orders for equipment problems.
  • Responsible for environmental, health and safety issues in the manufacturing area.
  • Participate in the planning of personnel safety and protection activities consistent with OSHA / IOSHA and all regulatory agency standards and guidelines and ensure all reporting associates are trained and compliant.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state and federal laws and statues and other governmental regulations, which are directly applicable to the company.
  • Develop, document and provide for continuous improvement in manufacturing processes, production and quality.
  • Direct Reports: All team leaders, production associates and material handlers.
  • Support IATF16949 Initiatives.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

3 – 5 years related experience and / or training in a production manufacturing environment. Degree in Management or Supervision preferred.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to communicate effectively.
  • Coordinate safety efforts with Safety Administrator.
  • Keep abreast of materials related to the company’s needs, through trade publications, papers, seminars and classes.
  • Must be able to work in both individual and team environments.
  • Self motivated and goal driven…proactive and works for results.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high energy environment.
  • Positive attitude and hard work ethic.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are typical to standard office and manufacturing floor settings with moderate noise levels and high level of activity. The work will mostly be in a manufacturing environment with occasional work in a climate-controlled environment. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, and fumes. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
