Key Responsibilities

The Die Cast Operator is responsible for:

  • Setting up and operating die casting machines to produce components such as dials, lock cases, and safe deposit lock parts from zinc alloy.
  • Following blueprints and process sheets to ensure accurate setup and operation of die cast machines.
  • Inspecting workpieces for compliance with specifications, including drawings and finish requirements.
  • Adjusting machine settings to meet production standards and specifications.
  • Connecting cooling systems and preheating die sections as necessary.
  • Managing the flow of water circulation and controlling machine speed based on the casting requirements.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the work area while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Training and assisting fellow operators to ensure quality production.
  • Identifying and troubleshooting any issues with the casting process.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to read and interpret instructions and correspondence.
  • Basic mathematical skills for measurements and calculations.
  • Common sense reasoning to follow written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One to three months of related experience or training preferred.
  • Experience in injection molding is advantageous.
Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to:

  • Use hands to manipulate tools and controls.
  • Lift and move objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Work in proximity to moving machinery.

The work environment is typically loud, and safety precautions must be observed at all times.
