Job DescriptionJob Description

Purpose:

Our Quality and Inventory Control Associate will interact with each piece of pottery we produce, observes and records of production variation and keeps inventories organized.  They ensure we are sending the appropriate items to our customers, maintaing our production flow and our records are correct.

 

They are responsible for keeping accurate records of variation in the production process, adhering to our quality standards and maintaining our inventory of finished products.  Once items are out of the kiln, each piece is inspected for variation and/or flaws based on our quality control criteria.  All variation and flaws are recorded in our quality control system and the items are then sorted based on quality.  After the quality inspection, they will allocate the items and input the changes in into our inventory system.  Finally each piece must be correctly organized on their final inventory shelf and keeing those shelves organized as new orders are taken.  

 

Responsibilities: 

  1. Thoroughly inspect all pieces for any unusual variations, maintaining a daily quotas (typically 250-350 pieces daily)

  2. Maintain variation data on first, seconds, refires and fails. 

  3. Communicate redflags in production to the supervisor.

  4. Adjust inventory in accordance to ticket destination.

  5. Maintain the organization of all shelves (retail and hospitality).

  6. Facilitate the space for new POs and communicate location via PO Grid.

  7. Indicate when POs are ready and confirm counts are accurate.

  8. On a regular basis, double check inventories for accuracy. 

  9. Work back through the system to locate open tickets and assist in closing tickets through investigations.

  10. Meet with the supervisor weekly to discuss any production setbacks. 

  11. Must be able to follow all safety protocols and will be required to wear any personal protective equipment deemed necessary for the hazards present.

Professional Certification:

Working Conditions:

The performance of this position creates exposure to the manufacturing areas that require the use of personal protective equipment (specifically, a face mask). PPE is required and must be used when hazards are present or when required by company policy. Face masks are available both in the shop, and by request from the shop manager. The production floor is not climate-controlled, which means the ideal candidate will be comfortable with exposure to both cold and hot working environments depending on the seasons.


 

Physical Requirements/Essential Functions:

May need to sit, stand, bend, reach and kneel as well as push/pull and move materials. The employee must be able to lift 50 pounds and use proper lifting techniques.  The position will require standing in the production area throughout the day.
