Collections Associate

As we continue to grow, we are seeking a dedicated Collections Specialist to join our team and assist in managing customer accounts.
We are looking for a detail-oriented and customer-focused Collections Associate to oversee our accounts receivable process. In this role, you will be responsible for contacting customers with past due accounts, negotiating payment arrangements, and ensuring timely collection of outstanding balances. Your efforts will contribute to maintaining healthy cash flow and preserving positive customer relationships.
Responsibilities:
- Contact customers with past due accounts via phone, email, and mail to facilitate payment arrangements.
- Evaluate customers' financial situations and propose suitable repayment plans based on their ability to pay.
- Document all collection efforts and maintain accurate records of customer communications and payment arrangements.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including sales and customer service, to resolve any billing discrepancies or customer issues.
- Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and prioritize collection efforts based on account status and risk assessment.
- Provide regular updates on collection activities and account statuses to management.
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve disputes in a professional and timely manner.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements to streamline collections procedures and enhance efficiency.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate's or bachelor's degree in finance or related field preferred.
- Proven experience in collections or accounts receivable, preferably in a similar industry.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with customers in a professional manner.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) preferred.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing collections practices is a plus.
