Responsible for the overall daily operations and supervision of the pharmacy department including but not limited to operational and clinical services. Such services include, but not limited to supervising staff, purchasing, preparation and distribution of drugs; clinical oversight and interaction with medical staff; and oversight of appropriate/timely submission/reconciliation of drug claims.

Requirements

To accomplish this task the pharmacist shall evaluate a customer’s needs, evaluate the prescriber’s orders, and have extensive knowledge about the effects and appropriate circumstances for giving out a specific medication.

  • Communication skills. Pharmacists frequently offer advice and counseling to customers.

They might need to explain how to take a medicine, for example, and what its side effects are, because improper use of medication can pose serious health risks. They also need to offer clear direction to pharmacy technicians and interns.

  • Detail oriented. Pharmacists are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the prescriptions they fill prior to dispensing the prescription to the patient. Managerial skills. Pharmacists must have good managerial skills, including managing inventory, pharmaceutical budget and overseeing a staff. Responsible for all activities and documentation related to dispensing medications.

  • Facilitate new business and oversee timely and accurate delivery of services to clients.

  • Comply with state & federal laws and regulations at a multi-state level.

  • Work collaboratively with administration and prescribing practitioners to provide quality care. Ensure that billing & remittance documents and inventory control records are completed in an accurate and time sensitive manner. Participate in continuing quality improvement activities.

  • Responsible and accountable for operational budgets ensuring that the operation of the department is within budget guidelines and providing explanation of significant variances. Ensure strict compliance with all standardized professional policies and procedures.

  • Participates in the selection and hiring of pharmacy staff including pharmacists, technicians, and support staff. Operate in a manner consistent with professional, ethical, and legal standards of proper pharmacy practice. Maintain additional state pharmacist licenses as requested.

  • Manager to review monthly claims to make sure we are being paid correctly. Look for drugs that we are not being reimbursed for. Must discuss with your staff on who will do this Review cash reports (card charges monthly)

  • Inventory in pharmacy check on if anything needs to be returned, check on what we are ordering and why, if we are using PRIMED, ANDA and QK Check EPIC on claims submitted and reconciliation.

  • Make sure pharmacy staff are following protocol with orders and control weekly counts. Typical Duties

  • Responsible for the establishment, monitoring and enforcement of policies and procedures which encourage and maintain the standards of professional practice as such standards related to the dispensing of pharmaceuticals and conformance with Board regulations and all other applicable state and federal laws and regulations. Responsible for all activities related to dispensing medications.

  • Manage prescription returns for credit and destruction.

  • Provide oversight and approval of all prescription insurance rebills and adjustments.

  • Facilitate new business and oversee timely and accurate delivery of services to clients.

  • Work collaboratively with administrations, physicians and nursing staff to provide quality care. Ensure that billing documents and inventory control records are completed and accurate.

  • Participate in continuing quality improvement activities.

  • Participates in the selection and hiring of pharmacy staff including pharmacists, technicians, and support staff. Provides supervision and oversight of pharmacy staff.

  • Develops pharmacy staff weekly/monthly schedule.

  • Works in collaboration with pharmacy staff to increase their clinical effectiveness and counseling skills. Assist with the development, use, analysis, and feedback of clinical performance measurement indicators, processes, and audits. Ensure adherence to State and Federal laws and regulations.

  • Maintains strict control over distribution and usage of government-controlled products such as narcotics and barbiturates. Ensure appropriate record keeping for each prescription filled for pharmacy files, for control files on narcotics, poisons, habit-forming drugs or for billing records. Ensure inventory control of pharmacy stock to an acceptable turnover to minimize the amount of expired medications. Oversee the completion of the semiannual physical inventory and annual controlled substance inventory. Oversees the implementation and documentation of drug recalls through established policy and procedures, which are followed in a timely manner, including documentation, required detailing the disposition of such drugs.   • Does yearly staff performance appraisals and works with his/her staff for self-improvement.

  • Periodically consults with the practitioners in the clinic regarding patient treatment and doctor detailing. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly pharmacy reports as required per Supervisor request

  • Participate in and manage the Pharmacist On-Call phone schedule. Ensure the timely completion of the pharmacy’s MTM cases. Work with staff to implement and achieve the stores Wildly Important Goal(WIG) for the quarter and year.

  • Weekly meetings with supervisor and store staff to discuss quarter WIG

  • Create initiative or follow initiative for Doctor detail

  • Monitor staff orders comply with billing amounts( drug prices match what is paid)

  • Bi-weekly claim reimbursement reconciliation and check with EPIC on claims

  • Assign staff to keep track of Score Board

  • Read monthly Leadership book

  • Facilitate and log the deposit cash received for purchases

  • Create and Monitor immunization area and initiate protocol

  • Make campaigns for new initiatives (i.e. Immunization and MTM)

  • Work with Pharmacy Business Supervisor to execute WIG

  • Attend all scheduled store meetings on time

  • Update all pharmacy licenses before expiration with the help of the Pharmacy Supervisor Qualifications and Licenses:

  • Licensed pharmacist requires graduating from a college or school of pharmacy accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), such as a Doctor of Pharmacy Program (D.) program and passing the North American Pharmacist Licensure Exam, or NAPLEX. Must hold a current unrestricted pharmacist license in the state in which they are practicing.

  • One to three years of experience working in a retail (ambulatory) pharmacy setting.

  • Must be detailed oriented, able to multi-task and possess good people skills.

  • Must possess both written and verbal communication skills in order to interact with patients and clinic staff. Minimum 3 years of experience in management. Job Type: Full-time Must be immunization/ CPR certified
