Accounts Analyst

Position Summary: Performs a variety of duties to assist with the programmatic and financial administration of the Redevelopment Authority’s various programs and initiatives, including basic accounting and bookkeeping, reconciling of accounts, assisting with processing of vouchers and payments, and general tasks to maintain compliance with various local, state, and federal rules and regulations.

Major Duties:

  • Assists with implementing programs being undertaken by the Fayette County Redevelopment Authority as they relate to the Authority’s various community development and housing programs and initiatives.
  • Assists with maintaining files, including filing of general ledger journal vouchers, accounts payable, accounts receivable documentation, and other miscellaneous filings.
  • Prepares a variety of documents, reports, and records.
  • Keys daily worksheets to the general ledger system and assists with the processing of invoices and preparation of accounts payable checks.
  • Assists with effectively researching, tracking, and resolving (or properly referring) accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies.
  • Assists Finance Officer as necessary to prepare all required information required to complete the Authority’s annual independent financial audit.
  • Assists with filing and general administrative duties.
  • Assists with the completion of special projects and miscellaneous assignments as required.
  • Other responsibilities as necessary to maintain an effective, efficient work environment.
  • Assists Finance Officer as necessary with human resources duties, maintaining employee records, processing leave requests, and administration of payrolls and withholdings.

Job Requirements:

  • Graduation from high school and at least four (4) years of finance or clerical experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of basic payroll, accounting and bookkeeping procedures.
  • Considerable knowledge regarding the utilization of computers and applicable software (i.e. Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Ability to use a calculator, perform basic arithmetic functions, and perform routine computer data entry.
  • Ability to serve the public and others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Ability to learn the procedures and functions of the office to which position is assigned.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, associates, outside agencies and the general public.
