Job Title: Logistics Coordinator

Department: Logistics

Reports to: Logistics Supervisor

Summary

This position is responsible for the timely, safe and cost-effective movement of goods inbound and outbound for the facility, including inbound and outbound operations of the product for 3rd party storage facilities. This position is responsible for the coordination of daily transportation operations. The logistics coordinator acts as back-up for the logistics supervisor.

 

Essential Duties & Job Responsibilities

· 5am start time**

· Check-in drivers for both inbound deliveries and outbound shipments.

· Coordinate any return to vendor shipments when requested by the warehouse manager or logistics manager.

· Assist warehouse pickers with any issues that may arise with orders.

· Prepare Bill of Lading’s (BOL’s) and Certificates of Analysis (COA’s) to send to customers.

· Create inbound and outbound warehouse schedules.

· Assist with FedEx and UPS parcel shipments.

· Download shipment pictures into the company shared drive.

· Post shipments in NAV system.

· Scan and save BOL’s into the company shared drive.

· Review inbound paperwork and ensure that it matches what was received in the system.

· Work closely with both the logistics and warehouse team to ensure trucks are being offloaded and loaded in a timely manner.

· Communicate with customer service any issues related to orders shipping that need to be addressed.

· Negotiate and tender out loads for both pick-ups and deliveries.

· Assist both logistics and warehouse with any other duties as needed.

 

Support to Outbound Operations

· Support outbound with import/customs documents preparation (Canada, Australia, Singapore, etc.) as needed.

· Work as a back-up for Logistics supervisor during vacation time.

· Support logistics coordinator during lunch and breaks.

 

Other Responsibilities

· Works closely with Logistics manager to sustain programs and find continuous improvement opportunities, keeping cost down and minimizing unnecessary cost.

· Supports internal customers with an excellent customer service attitude.

· Supports and learn cross-functional activities to insure the flow of goods is kept consistently following our food safety programs, cold chain protocols and SQF protocols.

· Maintains good housekeeping and uphold good manufacturing practices (GMPs).

· Ensures that all outside visitors are treated with the utmost respect

· Complies with all plant, federal, state, OSHA, EPA, FDA, HACCP and SQF regulations.

 

Education & Experience

 

· High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

· Food safety knowledge, data entry, dependability, reporting skills, analytical skills, deadline-oriented, and excellent time management skills.

  • Demonstrate full knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices policies and procedures
  • Food industry and warehouse knowledge is a must.
  • Read, write, and comprehend in English
  • Basic Computer skills (e-mail, Word, Excel)
  • Must have teamwork attitude and excellent communication skills

 

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional Bending
  • Must be able to work in different room temperatures (including Freezer area)
