Responsibilities and Duties
Criminal and Civil Law
- Preparing case files: Gathering information and data, and preparing case files for hearings
- Communicating with clients and others: Interviewing clients and law enforcement, and communicating with attorneys, staff, and the public
- Meets with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects.
- Preparing for trial: Assisting attorneys in preparing for trial, including attending hearings, trials, and depositions
- Drafting legal documents: Drafting pleadings, orders, notices, subpoenas, and correspondence
- Maintaining records: Maintaining case management databases, and documenting and maintaining required records and statistics
- Researches and analyzes statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources; provides written analysis to attorneys.
- Interviews clients and witnesses and prepares summaries of their statements.
- Prepares, organizes, stores, and retrieves case files, which may include evidence, exhibits, depositions, pleadings, exhibits, and other items.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Communicates with government agencies.
Personal Injury Law
- Medical records: Order medical and billing records and electronically file in state and federal courts
- Settlement documents: Assist with the preparation of settlement documents
- Insurance coverage: Review policies, claims, and other records to determine insurance coverage eligibility
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Ability pass background checks
- Knowledge of the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure, Texas Family Code, county local rules, and individual court policies and procedures for Hidalgo and Bexar County
- Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters,
- Knowledge of e-filing system (state and federal)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment at times, and not be easily stressed by difficult clients or handling multiple tasks simultaneously
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish
- Initiative and the ability to self-start
- Excellent time management skills with proven maintain due dates/deadlines
- Punctuality
- Reliable transportation, Valid Driver’s License and Liability Insurance

Education and Experience
- •Two years of experience in Family, Criminal, and or Personal Injury law firm setting

Job Type
Full-Time 40-hour work week. M-F, 9a-6p, with 1-hour lunch
Compensation
$18.00 to $23.00/hour with the ability to grow, learn, and be challenged, depending on experience
