Job Title: Underground Utility Foreman

 

Job Overview:

As an Underground Utility Foreman, you will be responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of underground utilities such as water, sewer, and gas. You will lead a team of workers, ensuring that projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to specifications.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Management: Coordinate with project managers to plan and execute underground utility installations, repairs, and maintenance projects.

2. Team Leadership: Lead a team of workers, delegating tasks, providing guidance, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols and project deadlines.

3. Equipment Management: Oversee the use and maintenance of specialized equipment and machinery required for underground utility work.

4. Quality Control: Inspect work sites to ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.

5. Problem Solving: Address any issues or challenges that arise during projects, making quick and effective decisions to keep projects on track.

6. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of project progress, materials used, equipment inspections, and workforce hours.

7. Training and Development: Provide training and mentorship to new team members, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

 

Qualifications:

- Proven experience in underground utility installation, maintenance, and repair, with a minimum of 2 years in a leadership role. 

- Strong knowledge of underground utility systems, materials, and construction techniques.

- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.

- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to effectively manage time, resources, and personnel to meet project deadlines and budgetary constraints.

- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

- Certification in underground utility installation or related field.

- Familiarity with relevant safety regulations and protocols, such as OSHA standards.

- Experience operating heavy machinery and equipment used in underground construction.

 

Physical Requirements:

- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, bend, stoop, and work in confined spaces.

- Comfort working outdoors in various weather conditions and environments.

- Willingness to travel to different job sites as needed.
