Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Controller/ Senior Bookkeeper to oversee our financial operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining our financial health, ensuring compliance with accounting regulations, and implementing financial strategies to support our growth objectives. As the Senior Office Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for overseeing the company's financial transactions and ensuring accuracy in financial reporting. You will play a crucial role in maintaining financial records, processing accounts payable and receivable, and preparing financial statements. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of accounting principles.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting.
  • Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
  • Monitor cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting to ensure financial stability.
  • Coordinate and lead the annual audit process.
  • Manage relationships with external partners, including auditors and tax advisors.
  • Analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to senior management based on financial analysis and projections.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations and tax filings.
  • Manage all aspects of the company’s financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, and bank reconciliations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and ledgers.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure funds are available for daily operations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Assist in budget preparation and financial forecasting.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls.
  • Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Support project managers in monitoring project progress, budget tracking, and resource allocation.
  • Prepare and distribute project-related reports, presentations, and correspondence as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of contracts, permits, and other legal documents.
  • Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, Senior Bookkeeper, or similar role with at least 3-5 years of experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
  • Proven work experience as an Accounting Supervisor, Controller, or similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience interpreting financial data.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, Quickbooks, and MS Office Suite; experience with ERP systems preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work output.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
