Job DescriptionJob Description

This position will troubleshoot and communicate mechanical issues in the production area and maintain a productive, The Maintenance Mechanic conducts repairs to the physical plant and plant equipment, conducts preventative maintenance, work orders, and ensures continuous operation of mechanical and electrical systems on mobile and fixed manufacturing equipment.

Responsibilities:
• Adheres to safety, food safety, quality and legal compliance.
• Perform all work in accordance with environmental, health and safety standards, rules, regulations and practices of the facility.
• Must be able to pass training/certifications as required for qualification.
• Install, maintain and support all production related equipment utilized in processing areas.
• Use a variety of test equipment, machines, hand tools and computer aided equipment.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and production needs in an expeditious professional manner.
• Ability to effectively troubleshoot and diagnose equipment failures or breakdowns.
• Perform maintenance in accordance with maintenance schedules, utilizing appropriate blueprints, diagrams, sketches, national codes and verbal/written instructions.
• Maintain a clean and orderly shop and work area.
• Assist other mechanics when performing heavy jobs.
• Must be able to work overtime, weekends and willing to move to any shift.
• Repair and maintenance of packaging equipment, dismantling and assembling multiple brands of mechanical and electrical equipment, repair and replacement of defective parts, and knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
• Fabricating and welding as necessary to repair parts and equipment.
• Commercial refrigeration experience is a plus.
• Ability to troubleshoot basic refrigeration cycle, controls, defrost time clocks, contactors, relays, fan motors, fuses and air flow.
• Knowledge of how to perform basic maintenance, including washing condenser and evaporator coils, changing air filters, and checking thermostats.
• General understanding and compliance with all OSHA regulations, National Electrical Codes, State Mechanical Codes and other Plant/Facility Operational or safety procedures.
• Ability to comply with and execute the established preventive maintenance and work order/repair program in place.
• Document completed work as required by the supervisor.
• Compliance with all other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand 6-8+ hours
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.+
• Frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25-40 lbs.
• Frequent bending and lifting
