Job Summary: The Paralegal plays a crucial role in supporting our attorneys by providing comprehensive legal support, ensuring the smooth progression of cases from inception to resolution.

Representative Examples of Work Performed:

  • Legal Research & Analysis: Conduct thorough legal research and analysis on criminal law and personal injury cases. Prepare legal memoranda and briefs to support attorneys' strategies.
  • Case Management: Manage and organize case files, ensuring all documents are properly filed and easily accessible. Track important deadlines and ensure compliance with court schedules.
  • Document Preparation: Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and correspondence. Assist in the preparation of trial binders and exhibits.
  • Client Interaction: Communicate with clients to gather information, provide case updates, and address any concerns. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all client interactions.
  • Court Proceedings: Assist attorneys during court proceedings, including organizing evidence, taking notes, and coordinating witness schedules.
  • Administrative Support: Perform administrative tasks such as calendaring, file maintenance, and coordination with court personnel and other legal professionals.

Minimum Job Requirements: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required) To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

  • 5+ years of paralegal experience in criminal law
  • Willingness to learn new aspects of criminal defense and immigration.
  • Client focused mentality
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines
  • Strong writing and communication skills along with attention to detail
  • Working fluency in a second language is helpful, but not required
  • Associate degree in paralegal studies or related field preferred
