Seeking a skilled and passionate chef to lead kitchen operations for a start-up, farm-based restaurant concept for a beautiful 81-acre farm and restaurant near Columbus, OH. The chef would have the opportunity to work directly with the on-site butchers to craft an amazing menu. The chef will have the ability to grow with the business. Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Work with executive staff to craft a menu and recipes that reflect the character of the farm-based operation and appeals to our targeted audience. This would include the wood-fired brick oven. Steaks, burgers, and pizza will be the central features of the menu.

  • Ensure every plate served is to the highest standards–blow the customer away with quality, flavor and presentation.

  • Train and lead kitchen staff and daily kitchen operations, including hiring of staff and scheduling.

  • Cost items and assist in menu pricing.

  • Work with butcher shop staff to select regular and rotating specialty cuts for the menu.

  • Ensure freshness of food and ingredients.

  • Manage inventory of food and supplies.

  • Maintain kitchen equipment, and ensure organization, cleanliness, and functionality of all equipment and kitchen spaces.

  • Monitor and manage safety and sanitation practices and processes.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven cooking experience.

  • Lead and communicate effectively and professionally.

  • ServSafe certified preferred.

  • Experience with a wood-fired brick oven a significant benefit.

  • Catering experience a plus.

  • Able to work weekends, evenings, and holidays, as needed.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy, courtesy, and professionalism.

  • Fantastic customer service ethic and high expectations for quality.

  • Capable of managing multiple tasks; prioritizing and allocating resources efficiently to ensure timely service to customers.

  • Highly organized and ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.

  • Enjoy working in a supportive team environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be in a fast paced, high-volume farm-based venue environment. Some events will take place outside during various seasons or weather conditions.

Standard of Performance

  • The chef will be directly responsible and accountable for his/her specified quality and kitchen performance goals.
