We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced CFO to join our team. The CFO will be responsible for managing the daily accounting, billing and financial operations. This includes but is not limited to, maintaining a close eye on the organization's finances, overseeing daily accounting and billing operations, and leadership and development of the team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of GAAP principles, leadership experience and possess excellent interpersonal and analytical skills.

Essential Duties and Attributes:

  • Directs the company’s accounting and financial activities and is responsible for quality assurance for these functions
  • Prepares monthly and year-end financial statements and operating reports with accuracy and timeliness
  • Review of trial balance and balance sheets at month-end
  • Analyze expenses and monthly trends
  • Review and prepare month-end closing
  • Preparation, review, and control of journal entries and postings to the general ledger
  • Train and oversee the accounting and office staff of 15 employees
  • Review and make recommendations on improving internal controls to improve financial condition
  • Year-end financial review. Prepare year end work papers and coordinate with outside auditing firm to complete the annual review
  • Communicate with our outside tax accounting firm to provide estimated book earnings so that income tax payments can be calculated
  • Prepare month-end financial reports including Balance Sheet, P&L, Gross Profit analysis and an analytical review for owners

Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required. (MBA or CPA preferred)
  • Proven experience as a CFO or senior financial leader in a small to mid-sized company, preferably in the trucking, transportation, or logistics industry
  • Strong leadership experience, preferably managing a team. Must have excellent communication skills and demonstrate leadership in team building and motivation
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis, and internal controls
  • Proficiency in financial management software and advanced MS Office skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of relevant financial regulations and compliance requirements
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and FASB pronouncements
