Silver Strand Optometry is looking to hire a full time optician. The first 4 or less months will be part time until my pregnant employee leaves.
Compensation is $20/hour (not negotiable) plus commission (typically $200+ per month). This comes out to approximately $21.50+ per hour. Competitive benefits include sick days, health insurance, PTO, paid holidays, retirement plan, free eye exams, and free eyewear. Experience as an optician is required. Spanish speaking is required. For the first four or less months you will be working 8:15 am - 5:15 pm Tuesday - Thursday. You will also be asked to cover when someone asks for time off or calls out sick on Mondays and Fridays. After the pregnant employee leaves, you will be working Monday-Friday 8:15 am - 5:15 pm.
Duties include helping patients order glasses and contacts, contact lens training, submitting glasses orders to insurance, cutting lenses with the edger, answering the phone, scheduling patients, and translating for the doctor. You will be cross trained as a receptionist and optometric technician so that you can step in whenever help is needed.
The ideal candidate will be a go-getter with a can-do attitude. Must be a fast learner, detail oriented, have strong problem solving skills, and be a team player. Spanish speaking is required. One year of experience as an optician is required.
This practice was established in 1950. Our office strives to create a positive environment for both the patients and the staff. We believe in providing each patient the best care possible, and we are looking for an optician who will fit into our office culture.
