Position Summary

Punctual, hardworking, self-motivated, energetic, individual with a strong work ethic needed for custodian position. Daily duties will include an array of assignments, to ensure a safe and well maintained/clean environment at Surf Club 1.  Custodian/caretaker experience is essential, i.e., trash removal/disposal, using an outdoor blower, sweeping, mopping, cleaning, and disinfection of various surfaces.  Individuals must be able to demonstrate a basic knowledge of utilizing cleaning equipment and solutions.  An aptitude to identify custodian problems, with recommended solutions, to include coordinating with the management team and the Board of Directors is required.  Physical strength is a great asset and required. The job requires frequent bending, stooping, stretching and walking up and downstairs with the ability to lift 60 pounds. Basic manual labor will be required; operating and maintaining various types of cleaning equipment/tools, mixing basic cleaning solutions, managing and organization of mentioned equipment, to include maintaining an accurate inventory of supplies.  The individual must work well with others, be affluent in English, and willing to take direction from specified persons. Ability to effectively interact/communicate with Surf Club residents, BODs and staff is essential. A willingness to learn and grow into the job is also critical to this position.

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs assigned tasks with safety, efficiency and thoroughness.
  • Ensures safety of Association personnel, owners, tenants and guests within the complex.

·         Assists the Boards Members and Surf Club 1 staff for prioritizing tasks, emergencies, personnel management and other situations as assigned.

·         Maintains grounds, facilities, and common areas, to include daily inspections, to ensure all building and grounds are operational, safe/ clean and excellently maintained for the residents and guests.

·         Reports problems with any identified building maintenance, lighting and or other identified safety concerns or deficiencies.

·         Completes work orders as assigned.

·         Janitorial cleaning of building interiors and exteriors, docks, walkways and commons areas as assigned, and as needed.

·         Effective communication (verbal and written) with Surf Club 1 office and staff, vendors, contractors, residents, to include board members

·         Follows all building systems policies and procedures.

·         Follows all local, state and federal laws/ordinances to assure that a healthy and safe environment is maintained for the residents, staff and guests.

·         Coordinates with Surf Club staff, Board of Directors, vendors and contractors to ensure all custodian concerns are addressed timely with appropriate corrective actions/repair. This includes accurate and timely documentation i.e., (daily task list, work requests and other assigned duties).

·         Other duties as assigned.

 

Job Skills & Qualifications


Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of basic custodial functions, including basic cleaning and disinfection.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds without assistance and walk the building and grounds daily.
  • Basic math and writing skills.
  • English as a primary language with effective verbal communication.
