Job Title: Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance Mechanic
Pay Rate: $21.00/hr
Schedule: Monday-Thursday; 6:00am-4:30pm
Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance Technician responsible for the periodic maintenance and repair of transportation vehicles and various construction equipment. The role involves performing complex diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on a diverse fleet, ensuring compliance with Fleet management, local and state regulations, Department of Transportation, and OSHA guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance on automotive, truck, and construction equipment.
- Conduct general welding, including structural and bodywork as needed.
- Install and maintain communications equipment and other Company technologies.
- Coordinate vehicle and equipment repairs with outside vendors, approving estimates as appropriate.
- Assist with mechanical maintenance of the command center trailer and provide outage support as required.
- Maintain CNG station and perform CNG tank inspections as required.
- Manage parts, tools, supplies, and equipment inventories.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least two years of mechanical experience with construction equipment and fleet vehicles.
- Vocational training in automotive technology is preferred.
- Experience in general welding, structural welding, and fabrication is preferred.
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) or other certifications (e.g., forklift, manlift, CNG, welding, A/C repair, Air brakes) are preferred.
- Proficiency in auto, truck, and construction equipment mechanics, maintenance practices, and diagnostic tools.
- Knowledge of safe work practices, including automotive environmental compliance.
- Valid driver's license and ability to acquire and maintain a Commercial Driver's License.
- Ability to pass a background check, drug screen, and DMV moving violation report.
- Capability to wear and use personal protective safety equipment as required.
- Ability to work with basic auto shop chemicals and hazardous waste.
- Flexibility to work in different locations, districts, or departments as needed.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying temperatures and conditions.
- Physical ability to meet job demands, including lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to specified weights.
Physical Requirements:
- Carrying up to 50 pounds.
- Lifting up to 75 pounds.
- Pulling up to 50 pounds.
- Pushing up to 100 pounds.
- Ability to work in awkward positions, reach, see colors, handle tools, hear, kneel, stand, twist, concentrate on tasks, and work around potential health and safety hazards.
