Job DescriptionJob Description

RESPONSIBILITIES

·        Attach loads to rigging to provide support or prepare them for moving, using hand and power tools.

·        Select appropriate equipment such as cables, slings, chains, winches, and pulleys, according to load weights and sizes, facilities, and work schedules.

·        Test rigging to ensure safety and reliability.

·        Signal and verbally direct workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads; control movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces.

·        Maneuver suspended loads over, under and/or around obstacles, using multi-point suspension techniques.

·        Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules.

·        Performs other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

·        Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.

·        Has knowledge of building materials, methods and the tools involved in the construction of structures and underground utility systems.

·        Ability to logically plan and reason to identify alternative solutions; recognize when something is wrong or likely to go wrong; and consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions.

·        Typically, will have assisted a Rigger and have up to 3 years construction related experience.
