Data Entry Tax Specialist | 9730

Job Summary

Our client in Southlake has an immediate opening for a Tax Preparation Data Entry Specialist. This Position performs an integral role in entering important tax information into the specialized tax software for tax preparation and filing for clients. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Distribute Tax Organizers to clients so they can collect supporting tax documents that factor into their personal situation and return
  • Coordinate and organize the receipt of client documents (i.e., PDF, Excel, Word) primarily through the Company Dropbox
  • For clients with hardcopy documents, scan into electronic PDF format and organize into the Company Dropbox
  • Perform data entry using CCH tax software (from supporting documents in Dropbox)
    • Client basic information
    •  Actual supporting numeric figures from supporting documentation onto tax forms and tax schedules
    • Review and identify any discrepancies in information received (i.e., if supporting documents show different or conflicting figures or data or tax organizer is marked with no supporting documents)
  • Advise supervisor of any discrepancies and data-entry related issues
  • Use Company workflow tool, AirTable, to identify the status of each return at each stage of the preparation process
  • Advise supervisor on any missing (selected on Tax Organizer but no supporting documents) or additional documentation required for tax preparation and filing
  • Communicate open items list with clients and update Tax process workflow (Airtable) with appropriate notes/next steps
  • Prepare supporting Excel schedules as needed to support inputs onto tax forms
  • Provide information and assistance to resolve any tax-related customer issues, often through written email communication
  • Perform various other tax-related data entry duties if needed
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Experience in data entry using tax software is required, CCH tax software experience a plus
  • Intern experience in data entry for tax services company is preferred

  • Familiarity in tax forms and schedules and how they work together (i.e., where data should be entered) is extremely valuable and required in order to effectively perform the data entry
  • High attention to detail and ability to perform precise, detail-oriented work
