Position Description:
LCG is seeking Network Operations and Security Center Supervisor (NOSC) is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Network Operations and Security Center (NOSC) during their assigned shift. This role ensures the stability, security, and performance of the network by providing technical support, guidance, and oversight to the NOSC team. The NOSC Supervisor will also serve as the primary point of contact for any network issues, ensuring prompt identification, communication, and resolution of problems. This position requires working rotational shifts, including weekends, federal holidays, and government closures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Provide technical leadership and guidance to NOSC staff, ensuring the effective execution of network monitoring, incident response, and troubleshooting tasks.
· Oversee the configuration and management of routers, switches, remote access servers, VPNs, firewalls, terminal servers, probes, and monitoring software.
· Verify and confirm network problem identification, ensuring accurate communication of issues and recommending solutions.
· Maintain and update operational logs, ensuring quality standards are met.
· Continuously monitor the network and system services, ensuring they operate efficiently 24/7.
· Intervene and report any data communications, network, systems hardware/software service failures, or security violations in a timely and expedient manner.
· Provide “level 2” technical support, diagnosing and resolving issues to ensure first-contact resolution for client users.
· Maintain clear and effective communication with government personnel, hardware vendors, and service providers.
· Coordinate and interact with various stakeholders, including system administrators, security teams, and external contractors.
· Ensure timely reporting of any operational status changes and maintain continuous communication with relevant personnel during incidents.
· Assist in maintaining the NOSC facility’s electrical and HVAC equipment, ensuring that maintenance records are up-to-date and accessible.
· Support the maintenance and documentation of equipment inventory, ensuring accurate records of preventive maintenance, failures, repairs, and security logs.
· Coordinate facility-related tasks, including space management, building maintenance, and environmental safety, while ensuring adherence to site security regulations.
· Prepare and maintain detailed event logs, shift reports, and root cause analysis reports, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of all network activities.
· Ensure that all shift event logs are updated and current at the end of each shift. Generate ad hoc reports and develop user documentation as required.
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in network operations, with specialized experience in configuring and managing network devices such as routers, switches, VPNs, firewalls, and monitoring software is required.
· Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor junior staff in a technical environment.
· Experience working in a 24/7 network operations or similar environment is preferred.
· Desired: Network+ certification and CNA training.
· Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to perform complex technical analysis.
· Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate under stress with team members, managers, and government personnel.
· Ability to work effectively as part of a team, maintaining a collaborative and cooperative work environment.
· Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain high standards of quality and accuracy.
