Position Summary/ Objectives

 

The Packaging Engineer will be responsible for directing the engineering activities with the goal of continuously improving safety, productivity, yields, process reliability and manufacturing costs.  The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of engineering principles and can support the strategic and operational objectives of the business. The successful candidate will possess a high degree of professionalism, enthusiasm and desire to learn.

Essential Job Functions:

●        The primary function of this job will be to manage and perform the validation and qualification of packaging and filling equipment and new packaging designs

●        Troubleshoot and optimize the existing packaging and filling equipment to improve throughput and cost efficiency

●        Perform freeze dryer start-up and qualification as needed

●        Program software and perform software validation on various types of equipment

●        Participate in new equipment design, selection and startup

●        Improve overall equipment reliability for the Company’s manufacturing operations

●        Trouble-shoot equipment performance issues including identification of root cause and prevention of reoccurrence

●        Perform commissioning and qualification of new equipment

●        Preparation and review of equipment qualification reports

●        Supervision of outside vendor and contractor personnel

 

Education, Experience and Certification:

●       Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

●       1-3 years of Industrial Experience is desirable, but not required

●       Experience in a regulated industry is a plus, although not required.  This includes work in the Medical Device, Pharmaceutical or an ISO 9000+ registered company

●       Excellent verbal and written communication and ability to work in a team environment
