Development Associate

For nearly 35 years Homestretch’s mission has been to help homeless families in Northern Virginia become self-sufficient by giving them the skills, knowledge and hope they need to become productive participants in the community.

Under the supervision of the Director of Institutional Giving, an exciting, full-time opportunity exists for a Development Associate to work closely with our talented development team to acknowledge and analyze the generosity of our donors through donor database management.   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the Homestretch donor database including the accurate entry of all contributions, in-kind donations, pledges, and events data.
  • Create and maintain accurate, complete, and current mailing lists using donor database.
  • Reconcile the donor database with accounting, monthly.
  • Prepare and generate regular fundraising reports to assist in analyzing fundraising effectiveness.
  • Create and process donor acknowledgement letters within established time frames and create and maintain associated audit binders in accordance with instructions from accounting.
  • Provide support to event planning as needed.
  • Assist the Development Team in processing bulk mailings and fundraising appeals and assist in other resource development efforts.
  • Develop marketing and promotional materials for Homestretch campaigns and special events in collaboration with the Grants and Communications Manager.
  • Manage donor related reports.
  • Generate appeals & mailings as requested.
  • Serve as a member of the development team.

Requirements

  • ·       Bachelor’s degree required in Communications, Marketing, English or related field.  
  • ·       At least two years experience in fundraising and development.
  • ·       Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM databases.   
  • ·       DonorPerfect experience is highly desirable.  
  • ·       Possesses exceptional interpersonal skills, oral and written communication and skills.
  • ·       Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with keen attention to detail.
  • ·       Aptness to take initiative and think proactively.
  • ·       Capacity to maintain the integrity and confidentiality of Homestretch and its clients.
  • ·       Successful completion of a criminal background check.
