Job DescriptionJob Description

As a Transmission Service Writer, your primary responsibility is to act as the liaison between customers and the transmission service technicians. You are the first point of contact for customers seeking transmission repair or maintenance services. Your job involves communicating with customers to understand their transmission issues or service requirements, providing estimates for repairs or maintenance, scheduling appointments, and ensuring that customers receive exceptional service throughout their interaction with the transmission shop.
Additionally, you will be responsible for:
1. Customer Service: Providing excellent customer service by addressing inquiries, explaining transmission service options, and addressing any concerns or questions customers may have regarding their vehicles' transmissions.
2. Diagnostic Assistance: Assisting customers in describing their transmission problems accurately to facilitate diagnosis by the technicians. You may need to ask probing questions to gather necessary information.
3. Estimating Costs: Providing customers with accurate estimates for transmission repairs or maintenance based on the technician's assessment of the vehicle and the required parts and labor.
4. Scheduling: Coordinating appointments for transmission services, ensuring efficient use of technicians' time and timely completion of work.
5. Documentation: Maintaining detailed records of customer interactions, service requests, estimates, appointments, and completed work orders.
6. Upselling and Cross-Selling: Identifying opportunities to upsell additional transmission services or related products based on customer needs and the condition of their vehicles.
7. Quality Assurance: Following up with customers after service to ensure satisfaction and address any further concerns, striving to maintain a high level of quality and professionalism.
8. Knowledge of Transmission Systems: Developing a basic understanding of transmission systems and common transmission problems to effectively communicate with customers and technicians.
Overall, your role as a Transmission Service Writer is crucial in ensuring that customers receive prompt, reliable, and satisfactory transmission services while also contributing to the overall success and reputation of the transmission shop.
