Warehouse Manager

The Warehouse Manager performs warehouse work related to repackaging, receipt, shipment, storage, distribution, and delivery of products, parts, and materials. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the overall leadership of the warehouse, and the team of warehouse employees spanning two shifts. You’ll prioritize and execute tasks, ensure all safety standards are being upheld, and maintain a positive and professional working relationship with our customer, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service. Saturdays will be required (typically twice per month).

Warehouse Manager Essential Functions:

  • Manages other warehouse employees.
  • Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of employees that work in the warehouse.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning and assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Inspects physical condition of warehouse and equipment. Prepares work order for repairs and requisitions for replacement of equipment.
  • Confers with department heads to ensure coordination of warehouse activities with activities of other functions such as production, sales, records control, and purchasing.
  • Meets with customer representatives at the local plant level to ensure that order fulfillment and delivery activities are meeting customer expectations.
  • Participates in planning personnel safety and plant protection activities.
  • Leads employees by maintaining a positive attitude and setting a good example that others will follow.
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate objectives and directions to others.
  • Treat everyone fairly and with respect.
  • Follow and assure others follow all safety policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the ERP system, other IT equipment, forklifts and other material handling equipment/tools used in the area.
  • Assures that the operational procedures that have been put in place are followed.
  • Constantly looking for ways the warehouse can be more effective for the company and brings recommendations/suggestions to regional operations manager.
  • Assures that the equipment and tools used in the area are maintained, cleaned and in good working order. Report the need for any repairs or replacements required.
  • Address safety concerns promptly by taking appropriate action.
  • Attends training classes as required.
  • Perform other tasks as directed by regional operations manager.
  • Complete warehouse tasks as needed to ensure proper workflow of the warehouse. This could include shipping, receiving, packaging, kitting, and delivering goods to our customers.
  • Lifts heavy objects by hand and/or moves material in a safe manner using a hand truck, a gas or electric powered forklift or other material handling equipment.
  • Attaches identifying tags or labels to the material or product packages and marks information on cases, pallets, and/or other containers.
  • Checks other employees completed tasks for accuracy.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years of management experience in warehouse.
  • Fork truck operation experience a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to conduct instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • OSHA 10/30 Training
  • First Aid
  • CPR

Working Conditions and Hours:

  • Warehouse environment.
  • Lifts heavy objects by hand or with equipment. Must be able to safely lift 30-70 pounds.
  • Hours vary but are typically first shift. Additional hours may be required.
  • 2 or more Saturday shifts
