Job Title: Chemical Liquid Loader/Unloader

Starting Pay: $19.50 per hour

Shifts: Rotating shifts:

  • 1st Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
  • 2nd Shift: 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM

Job Description:

We are seeking dedicated and safety-conscious individuals to join our team as Chemical Liquid Loaders/Unloaders. In this role, you will be responsible for loading and unloading chemicals and oil into tanker trucks and rail cars.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely load and unload chemicals and oil into tanker trucks and railcars.
  • Ensure proper positioning and securing of trucks/railcars at the loading rack.
  • Conduct visual inspections to verify the mechanical soundness and proper equipment of trucks/railcars.
  • Wear required protective clothing and equipment, including respirators.
  • Connect and disconnect loading arms/hoses and manage product transfer using gauges and strapping tables.
  • Operate engines and pumps within defined parameters.
  • Monitor weight before and after transfers to comply with DOT certification.
  • Inspect transfer systems for leaks, complete required paperwork, and ensure proper sealing of containers.
  • Operate forklifts and other lifting devices to move products and materials.
  • Climb onto and inspect trucks and railcars, following a checklist for safety and sealing.
  • Read and interpret bills of material, safety rules, and operational procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience: 1-3 months of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certification: Valid forklift operator certificate (training and certification provided by the company).
  • Language: Proficiency in English; bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
  • Mathematical Skills: Basic mathematical aptitude, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure and complete basic fraction calculations.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to read, write, and understand instructions and procedure manuals. Able to write routine reports and correspondence and interpret various documents.

Physical Demands and Work Conditions:

  • Frequent use of hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift and move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required, including distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work in seasonal outdoor areas or warehouses, using man lifts and operating at heights, with hand tools in tight or enclosed spaces.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, high noise levels, and potentially hazardous chemicals.
