Dispatchers/Communication Officers work in the CRITPD Headquarters in Hood River, answering calls for assistance, dispatching officers to respond, and keeping logs of all activities. This role uses radio communications extensively to support Police Officers who are in the field.

  • Be an exceptional team member for CRITPD colleagues. Listen well and speak with respect.
  • Always put safety first.

Qualifications

  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations. Ability to listen well.
  • Ability to learn to speak clearly and concisely on a police radio.
  • In order to become Department of Public Safety Standards & Training (DPSST) qualified, you must be able to meet minimum moral fitness and ethical qualifications and pass a background investigation with no convictions of felonies. Candidates with a misdemeanor criminal history will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Supervision
