Job Summary: To treat disabilities, injuries and diseases through the use of exercises and physical properties of sound, water, heat, cold, light and electricity according to the physician's prescription

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:​

Supervises Physical Therapy Assistants and Aides

Schedules patient case review conferences for Physical Therapy patients.

Works closely with Physicians, Administrator, Office Manager and all other clinical and administrative staff

Responsible for care, safety and well being of patients during assigned acts, and for observing all necessary precautions and procedures in use of equipment to prevent retarding of the healing process or injuring the patient

Responsible for carrying out treatment in accordance with physician's prescription and for observing all facility rules relative to care of equipment and apparatus, economical use of supplies, linens and utilities, and cleanliness of the department area

Directs the performance of the plan of care when carried out by a physical therapy assistant

 

Provides the initial assessment, supervisory visits and discharge visits when required

Has the documentation required completed within 24 hours of the patient assessment including all therapeutic and billing documentation

Supports and actively participates in the activities of the Clinical Group and utilization review committee 

 

Professional Requirements:

Work well under pressure and in emergencies

Completes annual education requirements.

Reports to work on time and as scheduled, completes work within designated time.

Be detail-oriented

Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, hospital, home health agencies, and staff.

Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner in the community.

Maintains client confidentiality at all times.

Attends inservices as appropriate.

Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.

Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.

Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the organization.

 

Regulatory Requirements:

• Successfully completed training in accordance with minimum essentials for physical therapy school

• Graduate of an AMA-APTA approved school of Physical Therapy

• Must hold an active license for the state of New Jersey

 

 

Safety and Emergency Preparedness Demands:

There will be extension standing, walking, bending and lifting up to 30lbs in this position. There is a possibility of strain due to handling of heavy equipment and this position is subject to mental and physical stress. Patient care will be direct so there may be hazards of exposure to communicable diseases transmitted by the patient or by equipment used.
