Here are some typical duties and responsibilities of a Staff Accountant.

  • Prepare & review financial statements for accuracy and legal compliance
  • Prepare and file various tax returns
  • Enter accounting related information into accounting programs
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations
  • Work with Quickbooks desktop & online, Accounting CS, UltraTax & other software programs

Requirements

  • We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our experienced team
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 2+ years of experience in accounting and tax preparation
  • Experience with Thomson Reuters products is highly desirable
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline preferred. Additional experience may substitute
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work on & keep track of multiple projects
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, as well as ability to learn programs quickly
  • Self-motivated with the ability & willingness to assist coworkers, ask questions and learn quickly.

Responsibilities

  • Manage monthly financial statement preparation and bank reconciliations
  • Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards
  • Be responsible for month-end and year-end close processes
  • Reconcile account discrepancies and maintain accurate records of financial transactions
  • Prepare financial statements and reports for our clients
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Identify advisory services and other opportunities that may benefit our clients
  • Other accounting duties as assigned
