JOB SUMMARY:

The Welding Fabricator responsibilities include setting up and operating a MIG welder and TIG welder. Reading and understanding engineering blueprints and fabricating metal components for handrails. Using the proper tools and equipment to ensure the parts are properly fitted, aligned and welded.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (includes other duties as required):

  • Arrives to work on time and in the proper condition to perform assigned duties as such
  • Follows all published work and safety rules for the facility
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering blueprints
  • Verifying dimensions and product specifications
  • Setting up and operating welding equipment. MIG, TIG machine, etc.
  • Ability to use cutting and grinding tools
  • Ensure all parts are properly fitted before welding
  • Effectively plan work to accomplish assigned tasks with minimal supervision
  • Be willing and able to pivot to different tasks throughout the day
  • Ensure that work conditions are safe and efficient
  • Proficiency with metal fabrication tools including grinders, reciprocating saws, band saws, drill presses, etc.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing procedures as well as basic mathematic skills
  • Excellent problem solving/trouble shooting skills
  • Maintain and clean shop equipment and tools to ensure they are always kept in safe and usable condition
  • Basic knowledge of computer systems or willingness to learn (Excel, Word etc.)
  • Ability to speak, read and understand English
  • Meets individual and department productivity and quality goals.
  • Ensures documentation and processes are followed.

 

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • TIG welding: 3 years (preferred)
  • MIG welding: 3 years (preferred)
  • Aluminum spool gun experience: 3 years preferred)
  • Aluminum TIG experience: 3 years (preferred)
  • Fabrication: 3 years (preferred)
  • Ability to count and perform basic mathematical calculations such as calculating percentages.
  • Ability to use a tape measure and use fabrication skills to complete all phases of fabrication.
  • Ability to see and distinguish words, colors and shades.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Physical requirements needed to perform the job Ability to stoop, reach, handle and manipulate objects and materials.
  • Ability to walk, stand and sit for long periods. Ability to twist and use hands, fingers and wrists to grip, twist and bend to operate controls.
  • Ability to distinguish colors.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • This position works in a non-temperature-controlled industrial manufacturing environment. It can be hot in the summer and cool in the winter. The employee will regularly be exposed to noise levels requiring hearing protection, moving equipment and mechanical parts.
