Chesapeake Shipbuilding Corp is seeking a skilled Stick Welder to join our team in a full-time and benefits-eligible position. As a key member of our shipbuilding team, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently performing general carpentry labor to complete construction associated with building cruise ships.
Key Responsibilities- Tack Welding: Perform tack welding to secure components or parts in preparation for full welding.
- Structural Assembly: Ensure accurate alignment of workpieces based on blueprint specifications, erect frames, beams, longitudinal and stiffening members, and install structural outfit items, doors, ladders, and foundations.
- Welding Operations: Tack welding with stick and semi-automatic welding equipment, with a focus on precision and attention to detail.
- Team Collaboration: Work independently and as part of a team to achieve production goals.
- Physical Demands: Ability to perform all types of physical movement, use upper and lower extremities, and work in various environments, including heat, inclement weather, and cold.
- Mental Requirements: Normal level of visual acuity, ability to understand and follow directions, and normal hearing level.
- Work Environment: Ability to work over bodies of water, with exposure to weather, fumes, high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, equipment, and vibration.
- Shifts: Monday - Friday, with day shift (7:00am – 3:30pm), summer hours (6:00am-2:30pm), and evening shift (3:00pm-11:30pm), with overtime and weekend work required based on business needs.
