Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking a skilled Service Technician for a long-term role with a rental equipment company located in Portland, OR. The person in this role will train in the shop and fleet yard and then will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of equipment at industrial customer sites throughout the Portland Metro area.


Pay: $28-$34/hr


Service Technician Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance and repair on a variety of complex rental equipment and tools at branch or customer locations, involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems. Equipment can include industrial systems, fleet equipment, and more.

  • Conduct diagnostics and repairs using knowledge of schematics and diagrams.

  • Assist in the training and mentoring of lower-level technicians as needed.

  • Ensure all work is completed safely and to a high standard, using some degree of independent judgment.

  • Dispatch to customer job sites, sometimes as an on call technician.

  • Operate hand and power tools.

Service Technician Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in repairing and maintaining equipment and tools.
  • Must have driver's license and eligibility to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must own tools applicable to the position.
  • Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and customer service skills.
  • Proficient in using computer systems.
  • Knowledge of schematics, diagrams, and heavy equipment.
  • Familiarity with manufacturers’ warranty processes and work order/time spent accounting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
  • Ability to coach and mentor less experienced technicians.
