Job Summary:

The Industrial Maintenance Supervisor will oversee the maintenance operations of our food production facility, ensuring that all equipment and machinery are functioning optimally and safely. This role requires strong leadership skills, hands-on experience with food production equipment, and a deep understanding of regulatory compliance within the food industry. The supervisor will lead a team of maintenance technicians, manage preventive maintenance programs, and troubleshoot any mechanical or electrical issues that arise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervision & Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of maintenance technicians, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Maintenance Operations: Oversee daily maintenance activities, ensuring timely and effective repairs, adjustments, and preventive maintenance of food production equipment.
  • Equipment Management: Ensure all food processing and packaging machinery is operating efficiently, minimizing downtime and optimizing production output.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure that all maintenance work is conducted in compliance with food safety regulations, OSHA standards, and company policies. Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Develop, implement, and manage preventive maintenance schedules to ensure the reliability and longevity of equipment.
  • Troubleshooting & Repair: Quickly diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues to minimize production interruptions.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain inventory of critical spare parts and tools, coordinating with procurement to ensure availability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with production managers and other departments to schedule maintenance activities that minimize disruption to production.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions to enhance equipment efficiency and reduce maintenance costs.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment repairs, and safety inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Budget Management: Assist in the preparation and management of the maintenance department's budget, ensuring cost control and efficient resource allocation.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Maintenance, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in a food production environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of food processing equipment, mechanical systems, electrical systems, PLCs, and HVAC systems.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of FDA, USDA, and OSHA regulations as they pertain to food production and maintenance operations.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, with strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to make quick, effective decisions under pressure.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with maintenance management software (CMMS) and basic computer skills, including MS Office.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Certified Maintenance & Reliability Technician (CMRT) or OSHA Safety Certification are a plus.
