EMPLOYMENT POSITION:
ELDERS PROGRAM COORDINATOR:
This position is primarily responsible to provide and coordinate various events and activities for the United Houma Nation Elders Program. Activities range from educational, information, recreational, to cultural in nature. This position will provide coordination of transportation to ensure tribal elders across the 6-parish service area are able to participate in program events and activities. This position is responsible for the monitoring of Elders Program budget and reporting assistance as required by Administration.
-Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Prepare and distribute information to elders regarding program activities and information of interest to Elders for Tribal newsletter and social media.
2. Responsible for maintenance and regular updates of Elder mailing list and contact information.
3. Assists with coordination of culture activities for Elders in each area/parish.
4. Arrange travel, meals, and all aspects of planning/arranging Elders activities in alignment with the UHN goals and administrative expectations.
5. Process purchase orders and requests for training in alignment with the UHN goals and sponsored events.
6. Provide information and referral services for Elders.
7. Maintain regular contact with elders through regular meetings and contacts.
8. Work with the UHN administrative staff and the UHN programs to coordinate and participate with other grant funded programs to involve the Elders: i.e. intergenerational activities and events.
Desired Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED and two years clerical experience in a general office setting or a combination of two years in specialized education and experience in activity planning or satisfactory completion of a related Work Experience placement and demonstrated skills to perform the duties for this position.
- Position is part-time (20 hours/week) based in Houma, Louisiana. Position requires travel. Hourly pay range is $14-$16/hour and will be dependent upon experience.
