Allentown Women’s Center is a reproductive health clinic in Bethlehem that provides compassionate abortion, GYN, and gender-affirming care to patients with diverse sexual and reproductive needs. We are seeking a Director of Nursing with excellent interpersonal and administrative skills as well as considerable clinical experience. The ideal candidate will have a passion for improving access to abortion and affirming healthcare and be eager to join a community resource that they will oversee for years to come.
Responsibilities:
- Act as Recovery Room Nurse during hours that surgical patients are present.
- Ensure compliance with Department of Health (DOH) regulations, including those of the Division of Acute and Ambulatory Care (DAAC), NAF clinical practice guidelines, and other requirements of government and regulatory agencies, such as HIPAA, OSHA, and Patient Safety Authority regulations.
- Hold quarterly Patient Safety Meetings, Infection Control Meetings, and Medical Advisory Meetings.
- Collaborate with the Medical Director to establish and update clinic policies and protocols (including patient management).
- Facilitate regular training and in-services led by appropriate personnel to educate staff in best practices.
- Staff the Medical Area of the Clinic and supervise nursing staff, medical assistants, and lab manager.
- Ensure copies of current licenses, CPR certificates, malpractice insurance coverage, CV’s, etc. for all clinical staff are maintained
- Develop and update training materials as needed.
- Schedule residents and organize clinic participation in national training program.
- Schedule CPR training for all clinical staff every two years. Obtain CPR certificates from independent contractors
- Oversee Risk Management of the Center (adherence to medical protocols, facility-wide infection control practices, Chart Audit Program, quarterly medical emergency drills, crash carts and equipment maintenance)
- Ensure Serious Events, Incidents, and Infrastructure Failures are reported to PA-PSRS
- Responsible for Quality Assurance and Improvement
Qualifications:
- Currently Licensed as Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
- Maintain current BLS and ACLS. PALS certification is suggested, but not required. (If these certifications are not present upon hiring, they must be obtained promptly and no later than six months from the date of hire.)
- 3+ years prior experience working in a clinical or healthcare setting
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- An understanding of local, state and federal laws and guidelines
- Customer service oriented, prepared to liaise with patients, families and other care providers
- Extremely organized and detail-oriented
