Responsibilities:
- Implements the project-level safety management program.
- Provides assistance to project and construction management in implementing and complying with project safety requirements and in addressing ES&H issues as they arise during project execution.
- Coordinates with and provides technical assistance to other project-assigned functional leads (e.g., engineering, subcontracts, procurement, project controls) with regards to compliance with project-specific ES&H requirements.
- Participates in meetings with customers, project team members, and contractors/subcontractors to advise them of safety requirements that may affect project design, schedule, and cost.
- Provides technical support and assistance directly to construction supervision and subcontractors in planning and executing field activities in accordance with the project safety requirements.
- Provides support in comprehensive project ES&H planning, safety and health specific plans, project specific mitigation plans, safety and health awareness training programs, and technical and regulatory reports.
- Conducts safety assessments/inspections of project construction activities to monitor compliance with ES&H requirements including contractual commitments, laws and regulations, and the project’s ES&H plan.
- Implements personnel policies (e.g., conducts employee performance evaluations) and provides technical direction to staff.
- Implements policies and processes established by management
- Provides report and activity updates to management
- Accepts, amends, and rejects deliverables
- Solves difficult and complex work problems
- Identifies and / or recommends resource requirements
- Takes corrective actions
- Implement policies and processes established by management
- Provide activity update to their Area Manager and General Superintendent
- Provide oversight and guidance on day-to-day work tasks and activities
- Provide input on how work should be structured and allocated
- Organize, facilitates, and participates in work
- Solves day-to-day operational work problems
- Provides input on resource requirements
- Identifies training needs
- Coaches employees
Requirements:
- Must have OSHA 510/500 Certification
- Must be bilingual (speak English and Spanish)
- Knowledge of heavy mechanical work in construction (Piping, HVAC, Mechanical Work, Gas Work, etc.)
- Experience in managing and/or providing technical oversight of ES&H subcontractors or consultants.
- Experience in ES&H assessments/inspection during construction.
- Knowledge of hazardous materials and physical risks and the mechanisms to mitigate them.
- Skilled in oral and written communication.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CHST Certification
- Associates or Bachelors (2-4 years of college) in Environmental and/or Occupational Safety & Health
