  • Enter transition schedules or ECRs as needed into the MMS tracking system.
  • Tie literature to the models when TS or ECR is entered either by themselves or the Technical Services Coordinator.
  • Responsible for a particular model line to ensure work on projects pertaining to that model line is completed.
  • Create new lit or revise existing lit for a particular project as needed.
  • Work closely with the engineers to ensure all information is received for the project.
  • Engage the Product Specialists in all literature changes/updates made by the engineers.
  • Maintain a list of current reviewers for each brand and route literature to the appropriate reviewers from multiple departments and gain their approval to meet pre-determined dates.
  • Create new record(s) in MMS for each literature project and maintain those records until the literature’s release.
  • Maintain an FAI version of all changes on each project for quality for final FAI of the lit and forward if requested.
  • Attend tollgate meetings.
  • Monitor transition schedules, ECN's, ER's, etc. to determine if they will impact existing and/or future production and technical literature on which they are working.
  • Release literature to ensure dates on the Transition Schedules and ECR/ECN are met.
  • Learn and understand the basic nomenclatures of the products.
  • Adapt to changes on information received, fluid time schedules and multiple engineers.
  • Co-ordinate with multiple engineers who are making updates on the same piece of literature at the same time.
  • Maintain a list of running changes as designated by the Product Specialist, Engineering, Quality and/or Legal departments.
  • Adhere to the procedures that are in place within the Publications group.
  • Package and place the approved English file version of literature on the proper site for translating and work with the company’s translation team to ensure translations are available when needed.
  • Download the BOMs, clean the files, create and send part manuals for review to appropriate reviewers and maintain their progression in MMS. Must meet predetermined dates to release the part manuals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Publications Manager.


Nature and Scope

• Receive direction from Publications Manager and following through to literature’s release.
• Learning the processes and procedures of the Technical Services Publication’s group
• Work closely with other departments
• Requires direct supervision from the Publications Manager


Knowledge and Skills

• In-depth knowledge of desktop publishing and printing.
• Software requirements include: PageMaker, and/or InDesign, MS Excel, MS Access, Corel Designer, Adobe Creative Suite.
• Priority setting ability.
• Ability to communicate well.
• Good verbal, written, telephone skills.
• Detail-oriented, organized.


Experience

• 3+ years’ experience in technical publications preparation.
• Working knowledge of programs needed for work completion
• Experience preferably in a manufacturing atmosphere
• Prior technical writing experience


Education
Associate degree plus 2-4 years’ experience in technical publications preparation (preferably HVAC); or specialized technical school training plus minimum of 4 years’ experience in technical publications preparation.
