We offer a $1 per hour increase for candidates with an Associate's degree, a Bachelor's degree, or a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. We reward bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish with an additional $0.50 per hour.

Position Summary  

Assisting lead teacher in planning and implementing nationally accredited infant and toddler programs to ensure health, safety, and enrichment of children.  
 
  

Essential Job functions  

  1. Planning, implementing and supervising early preschool education activities in order to enhance their cognitive, social, emotional and physical growth.
  2. Provide developmentally-appropriate education and care, comfort, nurturing and guidance to early preschool children in order to enhance their emotional and physical growth as outlined by NAEYC and State Licensing guidelines.
  3. Ensure the cleanliness, orderliness, and safety of facility according with health and hygiene standards, including but not limited to the toileting area, toys, cots, sheets, diaper changing area and food service/preparation area.
  4. Responsible for accurate record keeping, data collection, and anecdotal child reports in order to ensure coordinated departmental interventions.

Ideal candidates will have the following:  

  • Welcoming & inclusive personality 
  • General knowledge of direct victim services, violence against women and sexual violence issues; gender and race equity, from a feminist perspective. 
  • Understanding of equity, anti-oppression and trauma-informed philosophies.

      

Qualifications  

  • 18years of age. Bachelor’s Degree, Associate’s Degree or CDA preferred. 
  • If no CDA upon hire, must be willing to obtain CDA or have experience working with ages 0-5. Infant and toddler experience preferred. 
  • Meet all State Child Care Licensing Requirements including Food Handler’s permit, CPR/First Aid. 
  • Ability to relate in a positive and nurturing way with children and adolescents. 
  • An understanding of, and agreement with, YWCA Utah’s mission, values and philosophy regarding the elimination of racism, empowerment of women and commitment to anti-oppression work and social justice. 
  • Understanding and commitment to issues of cultural diversity and anti-racism. 
  • Ability to work scheduled hours on a regular basis, some weekends and evenings required. 
  • Demonstrated experience functioning within multidisciplinary settings. 
  • Skilled in establishing effective working relationships. 
  • Ability to collaborate and invite collaboration. 
  • Able to demonstrate skills in effective communication, conflict resolution and problem solving. 
  • Must be able to pass BCI, meet I-9 requirements, and, if driving on agency business, a valid Utah driver’s license, automobile insurance and motor vehicle record.

      

Physical/Sensory Demands  

Work is generally performed in a safe  office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: sit for long periods of time; use computer to enter data; use telephone to converse with customers and employees; walk and stand for long periods of time; perform repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement. Travel to attend conferences, training, outreach and other events occurs routinely.
