Required Duties, Skills and Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Proven work experience as a Peer Support Specialist or similar role.
  • Relevant training and/or state certifications as a Peer Support Specialist.
  • Motivational interviewing and active listening skills to further support clients. 
  • Ability to understand and meet the needs of the client through respectful, courteous, and caring interactions with patients, families, and other health professionals.
  • Knowledge and skill to teach and engage in basic problem-solving strategies to support individual clients in self-directed recovery.
  • Knowledge and skill sufficient to use community resources necessary for independent living and the ability to teach those skills to other individuals.
  • Knowledge, understanding, and adherence to organizational policy related to the patient's rights to confidential care.
  • Ability to work with health personnel and clients of varying ethnic backgrounds.
  • Strong  verbal and written communication skills.
  • Other duties as assigned by peer supervisor or management.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must hold a current, unencumbered Peer Recovery credential from the Minnesota Certification Board, the Upper Midwest Indian Council on Addictive Disorders, or the National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors.
  • Current valid driver’s license.
  • Consistent access to an insured, reliable vehicle.
  • Self-declaration of recover for 1 year or longer.

Working Hours: Minimum 20 hours per week between 9am-6pm, and/or weekends as needed. 

Compensation: Hourly range for part time is expected to be $18-$22. This will be determined based on experience and other factors.
