Our client is looking for a Director of Communications. This a full time, work on-site position, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm. Right now this is a temporary position but does have the possibility of becoming a permanent role for the ideal candidate. This position is the supervisor of the Communications Team and provides assistance to all areas of the organization to promote programs, services and publications through a variety of print and electronic media, including social media. This position is responsible for overseeing the organization’s marketing strategies, communications and public relations activities, both internal and external.

This position oversees the development and implementation of the organizations magazine, all general association materials and publications – both print and electronic – along with those specific to the communications department. This position oversees the planning, coordinating and implementation of all events.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Edit the organizations written material
  • Oversee all aspects of meetings, events, and seminars, including the annual State Convention
  • Oversee all communications department publications and other department publications as requested in print and electroniOversee the website ensuring content and web pages remain accurate
  • Oversee all social media platforms and campaigns
  • Oversee all public relations materials (print and electronic)
  • Keep abreast of state and national news for issues and topics pertinent to organization members
  • Coordinate the member development program
  • Oversee all planning and budgeting for the Communications department
  • Assist the IT staff with ensuring that the member database meets member and staff needs
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Arts degree or higher in marketing, communications, public relations or related field.
  • Must possess strong proofreading and editing skills.
  • Must have excellent communication and organizational skills, have strong time management and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Social media skills and expertise required.
  • Must be able to work well with members and staff, and have strong customer service skills.
