We are seeking a skilled and passionate litigation attorney to join the Arkansas Municipal Legal Defense Program and help better the cities and towns of Arkansas. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on high-profile cases, help local government leaders, and shape the future of law enforcement across the State. You can hone your trial skills in federal court, utilize your writing ability at the Eighth Circuit, and enhance your instructor skills as you train police officers and city officials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent cities and police officers in complex civil rights litigation involving police practices and policies in federal and state trial and appellate courts.
- Develop and implement methods to improve police training, policy, and practice needs alongside National and State stakeholders.
- Represent city and town officials and employees in a myriad of cases involving employment law (e.g. ADA, ADEA, FMLA, FLSA, and Title VII) and land use matters (5th Amendment takings, inverse condemnation).
- Collaborate with various city departments to ensure compliance with employment laws, the FOIA, and other key laws by conducting trainings across Arkansas.

Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admitted to practice law in Arkansas and qualified for admission to the Eastern and Western Districts of Arkansas and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.
- Proven experience in litigation related to police or governmental affairs is preferred but not required.
- Strong analytical, communication, and trial advocacy skills.
- Fast paced environment requires keen ability to manage time as you balance the high priority needs of clients.
