Primary Purpose:
Apply the principals & practical application of electrical engineering in the manufacturing,and maintenance environment, including troubleshooting, reliability and continuous improvement of process to meet internal goals and requirements for future business.
Provide leadership and technical solutions to the highest standards for Environmental, Health and Safety are achieved.
Technical support for maintenance and operations to improve equipment uptime, capability, reliability, and output.
Advise the team’s overall understanding of the electrical systems within the department.
Provide technical ownership of manufacturing equipment and systems
Leadership Skills
The ability to communicate effectively at every level of the organization is critical in both written and oral formats. Particular emphasis is placed on two-way communication with maintenance crafts and production operators.
Demonstrate the ability to function in a cross-functional and team-oriented environment as a leader or team member.
Technical Skills
· Engineering Fundamentals (BSEET or BSEE)
· Assessing and report safety hazards associated with low - medium voltage equipment
· Ability to troubleshoot overhead and gantry cranes is preferred.
· Troubleshooting electrical systems including controls, drives, AC/DC control systems, and 10 KV / 480 KV power systems
· PLC programming examples: Allen Bradley, Modicon, or Siemens)
· Experienced with frequency drives, combustion systems, & instrumentation control.
· National Electrical Code to include NFPA70E
· Estimation of maintenance/project cost & timelines.
· Knowledge and use of Process systems (IBA, Pi)
Key Accountabilities:
· Improve equipment electrical and automation systems performance and reliability through planned projects, gathered from operators and plant floor observations.
· Develop long term solutions and mitigation plans for the most impactful root causes of equipment breakdowns.
· Provide troubleshooting support during equipment breakdowns which at times will include non-standard work hours on-site or by phone.
· Prepare plans utilizing project management principles for major equipment outages in order to meet project deadline & budget.
· Provide technical support for continuous improvement projects as part of a cross-functional team.
· Create technical specs for purchasing of new equipment or overhaul of existing equipment.
· Provides recommendations to a risk management plan in order to anticipate risks that would adversely impact operations
· Utilize predictive & condition monitoring techniques to oversee equipment health.
