We are seeking a skilled and motivated Commercial/Industrial Electrician to join our growing team. 

At Erie Electric, we take pride in being one of the fastest-growing electrical contractors in IBEW Local 86. Over the past four years since our inception, we’ve built a close-knit team of 20-25 dedicated electricians with zero turnover. Our success is rooted in our commitment to being an employee-first company. We recognize that our crew is vital to our growth and expansion; without them, Erie Electric wouldn’t exist.

As a proud Union shop, new employees will be organized into the Union and assigned a status based on their previous experience. Once onboard, you'll become an integral part of the Erie Electric team. Our compensation structure is tiered according to experience. For example, those with a master license or significant industry experience will likely qualify for Journeyman status. Currently, Journeyman Wiremen earn $43.57 per hour, while Foremen can earn up to $49.56 per hour.

Position Summary: The Commercial/Industrial Electrician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and components in commercial and industrial settings. This role requires a deep understanding of electrical systems, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in commercial and industrial electrical systems and a commitment to quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation and Maintenance:

    • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, including wiring, conduit, and fixtures in commercial and industrial buildings.
    • Interpret and implement electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
    • Perform routine inspections and maintenance to ensure system reliability and safety.

  • Troubleshooting and Repairs:

    • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues using appropriate testing equipment and methodologies.
    • Repair or replace faulty electrical components, such as circuit breakers, fuses, switches, and outlets.

  • Compliance and Safety:

    • Ensure all electrical work complies with local, state, and national electrical codes and regulations.
    • Adhere to company safety policies and procedures, and promote a safe working environment.
    • Identify potential electrical hazards and implement corrective measures.

  • Project Management:

    • Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and other trades to ensure efficient project execution.
    • Manage time effectively to meet project deadlines and client requirements.
    • Document work performed and maintain accurate records of materials and labor used.

  • Customer Interaction:

    • Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and provide solutions.
    • Provide exceptional customer service and represent the company professionally on job sites.

Qualifications:

  • Education and Certification:

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Completion of an accredited electrician apprenticeship program.
    • Valid electrician's license in the state of New York.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a commercial or industrial electrician.
    • Proven experience with electrical systems in commercial and industrial settings.

  • Skills and Abilities:

    • In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, including transformers, switchgear, motors, and controls.
    • Proficient in using hand and power tools related to electrical work.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams.

  • Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to work in various conditions, including confined spaces, heights, and outdoors in various weather conditions.
    • Capability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials.
