Standard Shift Schedule 

Mon-Thur 7am-5:30pm

The Master Scheduler will create master production schedules that enable the team to maximize quality, efficiency, and utilization of resources meeting business requirements to deliver the correct product to our customers in the required time period. 

  • Analyze all levels of finished goods, component and subassembly requirements driven by SAP. 
  • Assist the Buyers and Planners in developing and managing supporting production, purchasing and inventory plans per established KPI’s, guidelines and metrics. 
  • Communicate with Sales and Marketing team members in an effort to deliver the correct products to the exact customer requirements. 
  • Work closely with production management and suppliers to ensure material flow supports the master production schedule in a cost-effective manner. 
  • Work with Sales and operations team to perform “what if” analysis for production schedule changes.

  Principal Duties and Accountabilities (*Essential Functions)

  •   Acts as the liaison, operations and engineering teams. Understanding and communicating customer requirements/manufacturing capabilities with the objective of meeting the exact customer requirements.
  • Works closely with all team members from every operational discipline in creating effective and efficient master production schedules that meet all our customer requirements.
  • Identifies, monitors, and facilitates the activities to improve upon the production capabilities and constraints for the respective areas. Shares constraint information with all team members in an effort to create effective and efficient production schedules.
  • Conducts a daily review of the sales activities, current sales order position, on hand finished goods and how the current production plan supports the customer requirement.
  • Participates in the review of all New Product Proposals (NPP’s) and the enablement of all systems, processes, procurements etc…in an effort to deliver product to the NPP requirements.
  • Work with Buyer and Planners to develop their respective manufacturing and delivery plans to maximize efficiency and create a lean supply chain.
  • Develop planners and assist them in learning and growing into professional positions and beyond.
  • Monitors the delivery performance as dictated by the plant-wide delivery line-item effectiveness metrics.
  • Participates in the annual budget process and periodic plant-wide production plan revisions.
  • Monitors the sales and finished goods inventory levels in the warehouse and reports deviations from the plan and/or budget.
  • Adjusts the master production schedule in a manner that will quickly deliver the required product without causing issues for the manufacturing operations or external suppliers.
  • Meets and communicates daily with the manufacturing operations, engineering, quality teams, buyers and planners in review of progress to the current production plan.
  • Expedites any and all issues or aspects related to enablement of building product to the planned schedule.
  • Understands and assists in the management of all capacity planning for all work centers. Facilitates the elimination of constraints and bottlenecks when necessary.
  • Creates master production plans by scheduling the timing of planned and released production orders so that the demand on the respective work centers is loaded efficiently.
  • Seeks input and feedback from production managers, supervisors, engineering, purchasing etc. when creating master production schedules.
  • Facilitates the “what if” process to review proposed production changes and shares the information with all team members (including subcontract suppliers) in order to create the most effective production schedule.
  • Expeditiously communicates unforeseen changes in master production requirements and creates appropriate recovery production schedules (i.e. important customer orders that may be required inside of the normal lead time).
  • Reviews internal and external supplier delivery promises and prepares anticipated delay/expedite reports and master schedule production plan recovery schedules if necessary. Assists Planners and Buyers with their recovery plans.
  • Communicates priorities to all appropriate area managers, supervisors and team members throughout the operations. Expedites all parts, tools, process changes and other related requirements as necessary.
  • Determines the appropriate quantities to build for all finished goods and monitors to insure adequate but not excess inventory in our warehouse. Works to disposition any inventory that has been deemed excess and obsolete.
  • Keeps track of the cyclical nature of the finished products produced and certain sales trends that impact current and future production.
  • Facilitates the physical materials management of finished goods in the event of quality issues (purge stock, return material to Supplier etc…) 
  • Creates production routers, repair, rework and conversion production orders. Remaining aware of these issues at all levels of production and assisting as needed.
  • Assists in determining optimum inventory levels to support the manufacturing plan and inventory goals and objectives.
  • Analyzes and set safety stock levels and minimum order sizes for finished products and components. Work with Buyers and Planners to drive action to support the appropriate safety stock levels.
  • Facilitates the plan, at all production levels including subcontract Suppliers, to manufacture new products and components.
  • Plans and monitors Master Schedule trial and pilot production orders in an effort to launch new products on time. Monitors lower-level T&P orders as necessary.
  • Maintains plant lead times in SAP.
  • Assists in the management of firearms monitored by the BTAF. Assure all compliance requirements are met and secured before planning respective production.
  • Participates in new planning and inventory control initiatives.
  • Assists operations in clear/clean material flow throughout facility. 
  • Assists operations in managing KPI’s surrounding aging shop orders and internal factory lead times and COGI management.
  • Follows all departmental and plant safety rules and regulations.

  • Bachelor of Science degree from accredited college or university with a major in Materials Management or related field preferred, but not mandatory. Master Production Scheduling and Purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment is desired. Experience with formal state of the art MRP systems and techniques.
  • 5-7 Years of prior experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, MSDS sheets, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to understand manufacturing operations and products in an effort to create smooth flowing production schedules that are free of constraints and overloaded work centers. Understand the impact of the master production schedule on lower level work centers.
  • Must understand basic materials management, production planning and inventory control techniques (i.e., capacity planning, JIT, lean manufacturing, production level loading, make to stock/build to order etc.) APICS certification/knowledge preferred but not mandatory.
  • Proficient in the use of personal computers and Microsoft Office Suite

Employees may encounter hazardous wastes during the course of their work.  Hazardous wastes are to be handled appropriately; including applicable use of PPE, placement into compatible containers, container labeling and marking; etc.  Additionally, wastes may need to be transported to/from satellite accumulation areas to 90-day accumulation area; via dolly, forklift, etc. All employees working with, handling, or managing hazardous wastes will receive annual RCRA training. Those employees preparing waste for shipment will receive additional trainings (DOT).
