JOB SUMMARY

The Electrical Designer will perform a variety of electrical design, application and checking to meet customer specifications for custom control systems. This job requires significant knowledge, skills, commitment, and other job-related qualifications. Independent and team work leads to a fast-paced, high energy environment.

Responsibilities include:

· Develop and modify detailed design of industrial control systems and electrical distribution panels.

· Create electrical schematics and panel layouts using CAD tools, select electrical components, evaluate design to verify fit and function with due consideration for manufacturing feasibility, cost and operation.

· AC and DC power distribution, protection, and grounding.

· Specification of all control panel components. This includes calculations of specific electrical components to ensure requirements are met.

· Networking drawings, System Architecture drawings.

· Clearly identify product and/or customer requirements, and generate specifications based upon those requirements.

· Interface directly with internal resources, customers, and engineering firms.

· Develop and modify drawings as directed by the lead engineer or panel fabrication shop manager using various versions of AutoCAD.

· Interpret P&ID, process flows, specifications, and other system design documentation to use as a basis of control system design.

· Provide control panel designs compliant with required industry standards (i.e. UL508A).

· Maintain current knowledge of control panel design and drafting procedures.

· Convert Drawings from AutoCAD to PDF.

· Bill of Material Creation

· Maintain company “library” of commonly used panel components to streamline design of future panels.

· Assist engineering in development and enhancements of company-wide standards.

· Assist purchasing with component substitution requests, update drawing and BOM’s as necessary

· Organize files and drawings for issue to manufacturing and record keeping utilizing hard file and software systems to include project files and customer required documentation.

COMPETENCY OR POSITION REQUIREMENTS

· Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics

· Proficient in the use of a calculator, micrometer, and veneer calipers

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND CAPABILITIES

· PLC Controls and instrumentation experience (PLUS)

· Hydraulic and pneumatic experience (PLUS)

· 1+ years’ experience in panel design 2+ years’ experience in drawing development using AutoCAD

· Associates or better in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field

· Competency – Teamwork, Organization, Critical/Analytical Thinking

· Dedicated: Devoted to a task or purpose with loyalty or integrity

· Flexibility: Inspired to perform well when granted the ability to set your own schedule and goals
