Position : Superintendent-Asphalt
Location : Hoffman Estates, IL(On-site) 
Duration : Full time & Direct Hire

Position Overview:
The Superintendent-Asphalt directs activities of union and non-union workers engaged with asphalt lay down in construction of highways, runways, site development infrastructure or other heavy highway construction projects.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan procedures for construction on basis of starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase of asphalt lay down in the project
  • Schedules asphalt crews and equipment
  • Prepares or reviews reports on progress, materials used and costs, and adjusts work schedules on the basis of this review and communicates adjustments to the project manager.
  • Ensures all work progresses at a pace that maintains the schedule and owner milestones
  • Inspects work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and the adherence to construction schedules

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Accumulate and submit all project daily trucking logs and material summary tickets on a daily basis
  • Accumulates and accurately enters time and quantities on a daily basis
  • Address and resolve complaints by field personnel

Required Skill/Knowledge

  • Knowledge of asphalt lay down practices and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task across several projects
  • Proficient in Outlook, Excel, Word,
  • Self-directed and motivated
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to complete projects on time and on budget

Mandatory Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs frequently.
  • Must be able to stand up to 12 hours per day with breaks.
  • Must be able to stoop and climb frequently.
  • Must be able to walk on uneven terrain frequently on job sites.
  • Must be able to drive a vehicle long distances frequently.

Preferred Skills/ Knowledge:

  • MS Project, P6, Viewpoint and HCSS Heavy Bid and Heavy Job

Education Level / Required Certification:

  • Minimum 3 years asphalt paving experience; prior experience as asphalt paving foreman
